I read the book before I saw the film and must say, I thought the film was very faithful to this extraordinary, thought provoking novel. The film has the right tone, all of the actors are excellent in their roles and the flashback aspect of Michael looking back on all of the events seemed to me to make sense.

What an extraordinarily thought provoking, if sad, film!
I will start by saying I haven't read Richard Yates' classic novel of the same name, but I intend to, so thought I would try the film first.
If you don't like depressing films, Revolutionary Road is not for you. If you like films that explore peoples' personalities and characters, including their flaws, this film is for you.
Based on the film, Revolutionary Road is a tale of an American couple living in suburbia in the 1950s. Both are frustrated and bored by the way their lives are turning out and the wife April, decides to take the bull by the horns and suggest they move to their dream city Paris. Needless to say it all goes wrong, the move doesn't happen and the marriage crumples in the most painful way in front of our eyes. You really sense the frustration in this film and feel so disappointed that the couple couldn't work it out. To me, what is great about this film, and I guess what is great about the novel also, are the way the couple interact with the side characters and how some of those side characters are the ones who really reveal what the problems with the society are. Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet put in stellar performances as the couple and watching this film I cannot wait to read the book!
