Boy A by Jonathan TrigellThe winner of the World Book Day 'Spread the word' competition was Boy A by Jonathan Trigell. This novel about a young man who has spent most of his life in juvenile institutions for committing a ghastly childhood crime, was considered by Reading Groups to spark the best discussion.

Portsmouth's own poll awarded the prize jointly to Death of a murderer by Rupert Thomson and Lint by Steve Aylett
