Birth of Venus: Review from Central daytime reading group

What a fantastic story! Nearly all of us agreed that this novel took us right into the heart of Renaissance Florence- its beauty and its flaws! We liked the character of Alessandro a lot and felt sympathetic to her situation as a talented woman who is restricted by her society. Some of us felt some of the descriptions were a little too real and a little too graphic! Do you find this valuable?
